Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were wounded while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and encountered problems to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, based on information from area administrators.

Russian forces has increased strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has called for "real steps" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and applying penalties," he wrote in a public message.

He said that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen missiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.

Local officials said the city endured heavy assaults overnight. A minor lost their life and three other people were wounded.

The strikes come after evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which are occupied by invading troops.

All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are tougher to spot.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
